Retro Cafe Interior Design | Tehnikum | Moscow | FORM

Tehnikum is a bistro located in the heart of the city. The name was inspired by the drafting equipment store previously located in its place.
A new addition to the White Rabit Family holding, the project was conceived by restaurateur Boris Zarkov, chef Vladimir Mukhin and gastronaut Mikhail Druyan as a vibrant dining spot where innovative gastronomic ideas could be enjoyed by a diverse audience in a relaxed atmosphere.

The interior evolved with several themes in mind. The wall to wall painting installed by artist Dmitry Aske recalls soviet canteens, where epic mosaics or murals often took centre stage in an otherwise utilitarian interior. Its former history as a shop for drafting equipment is reflected in the details of furniture and lighting, which include drafting lamps by Le Corbusier among others. The central custom designed chandelier references Moscow metro light fixtures from the 60s and 70s.....more

Office Interior Design | Garage Headquarters | Gorky Park | Moscow | Russia | FORM

In 2012 Garage Centre for Contemporary Culture relocated to Gorky Park. Its headquarters were based in a historic building, partly used by the park administration.
Prior to the renovation, the space was segmented into tiny cluttered office rooms, remnants of the 90s.After a close study of its history, the structure of the original building was revealed and adapted to the needs of Garage headquarters. Tall windows that had been bricked up were opened, the space was cleaned of the 90’s clutter, the attic space was put into use. The building is a historical artifact, with a kind of space-time tetris visible in its walls.

Throughout its multiple lives it has served as a boat repair yard for the Bromley factory,
then developed into an exhibition pavilion by the avant garde architect Shchusev in 1923, later it became a movie theatre, and a hall for exhibiting trophy weapons during WWII.
The new internal structure was dictated by the brief. Garage headquarters consists of several departments, each requiring a dedicated space, with the ability to interact. The space can be observed in its entirety from various points, with the head office slightly separated and overlooking the rest, to be accessed by a narrow winding staircase. T

The lower level contains the entry foyer, PR and research department, where panoramic windows reveal the ruins of a movie theatre destroyed during WWII. This space is at tree top level and opens up to the park.

A parade staircase leads to the second floor, where open working areas are organized around a closed core of the conference room, small kitchen and printing room. At tree top level, this space opens up to the park.

The topmost mezzanine is additionally lit by a long window which reveals the ruined theatre and the city skyline.......more

Bar Interior Design | Nude Coffee & Wine Bar | Moscow | Russia | FORM

Nude. Coffee & Wine Bar is a small family establishment located in a 1930s residential building in the picturesque heart of Moscow.
The design was informed by the materiality of the existing space. Multiple layers of plaster and paint had been partially chipped away to reveal original brick walls. This beautiful existing texture inspired the use of pared back, ascetic materials such as concrete and wood, with small brass accents and a bold black and white tile pattern.

The space is divided between an open kitchen and dining area, with a large bar top acting as an intermediary, at which visitors can eat and follow the cooking process.
Storage space hidden in the centre of the kitchen is used as a menu display board that connects to the bar top by a construction of steel and safety glass. The glass allows natural light into the back of the kitchen.

Nude sits 30 people distributed between several zones. There is a dining area with a massive wooden bench and marble tables, tall tables next to the wine rack, and the bar top that is comfortable enough for a quick glass of wine, as well as a slow lunch. A large concrete table in the centre of the room ties the space together. The interior is completed with elements of scandinavian designers such as &Tradition, Rubn and Massproductions.......more

The wine rack takes over a large floor to ceiling space next to the entrance and becomes part of the entry airlock. This is a metal grid construction in which wine bottles rest on leather belts.
