Showroom Interior Design | East End Sawmills | Glasgow | Scotland | NORD


A single storey extension to a sawmill in the east end of Glasgow.
Following a fire, which destroyed the public face of the building, NORD were approached to design a replacement showroom and office.
The single storey timber structure is constructed entirely from material sourced within the adjacent warehouse. The single use of timber as a material not only simplifies the form but also creates an ambiguity between structure and skin, heightening the intensity of the material and product......more

Restaurant Interior Design | Glyndebourne | Nigel Coates


The interior of the new Wallop restaurants has been designed by Nigel Coates and his design team. By using serpentine banquettes, towering waiter stations and a series of interconnecting levels, his design defines many distinct areas. Coates has also imbued the project with a sense of theatre. Patrons will no doubt recognise some fittings from past Glyndebourne productions including a large-scale mural from La Traviata. The decor also features many props chosen from opera house productions. College Interior Design | The Creative Media Centre for the City University of Hong Kong | Studio Daniel Libeskind


The interior of the nine-story, 263,000-square-foot structure, which serves approximately 2,000 students and 500 faculty and staff members and houses a variety of public programs, builds on this idea. Each space, whether self-contained or open, is a unique shape. Many of the walls slope or slice through space. Asymmetrical windows cut into the walls of interior lecture halls, classrooms and computer labs. Flowing around and among these and the building’s myriad other facilities – sound stages, recording studios, screening rooms, exhibit and performance spaces, a multipurpose theater and other discrete areas – are “interactive spaces.” More expansive than traditional passageways, but more intimate than formal classrooms, they are designed to encourage impromptu exchanges and spontaneous collaboration. An abundance of natural light throughout further enhances the spirit of limitless possibility and outside-the-box thinking.......more
