APPAREIL Architecture took up the challenge of setting up a café-boutique in the Mile-End brimming with colors and daring. This 1,500 sq. Ft. Premises has a café, an artisan workshop and a boutique space where local creations are put forward. Located on rue St-Laurent in the creative district of Mile-End, the large windows provide natural light while giving passersby a glimpse of creations placed in the window. The Pastel-Rita coffee section stands out for its welcoming atmosphere and has been named in honor of Gabriel's grandmother Rita. This part of the premises is composed of a big central bar which allows a direct contact between the baristas and the customers. Behind the bar, a partition made of wooden slats serves as a separating screen to delimit the section of the shop wall. This wall is punctuated by large openings shaped arches putting on a pedestal handbags, hats and leather accessories. The place with friendly looks seems straight out of another universe since all its components address pastel colors.....more
