Student Accommodation Facility Interior Design | Bloomsbury | London | 74
The brief was to create a series of differentiated, but interlinking spaces, for students to gather and socialise, but also to study and have quiet time. The range of spaces included a lower-ground gym, a ground floor reception (with back-of-house offices for staff), a study area, games zone and teapoint, with private dining and TV lounge on the 5th floor. The design needed to reference the building’s context as well as iQ’s corporate signature colours......more

Apartment Interior Design | York House | London | Patrick Lewis Architects
York House is an imposing mansion block on Upper Montagu Street in Marylebone, Central London. Our client purchased a large 2nd floor apartment, which had not been refurbished for over 45 years. The property had fantastic proportions and good light and our approach to redesigning it focused on enhancing these core characteristics. Significant structural works were undertaken to produce an elegant apartment, which suited contemporary living requirements.
We created a strong new axis through the property allowing you to immediately view straight through the property on arrival. Bedrooms were converted into ensuite bathrooms in a considerate manner without marginalizing the purity of the plan. Lastly, the living space was combined and the kitchen was moved away from the dark internal lightwell and relocated at the front of the property enjoying wonderful light and views.....more

Apartment Interior Design | 115 Norfolk Street | Manhattan | New York City | Grzywinski+Pons Ltd
115 Norfolk Street is a 27,000 square foot 24 unit multifamily residence on Manhattan's Lower East Side.
We worked within a very constrained budget on the project and were able to produce a condominium product that compared well with contemporary competing developments in New York City with far higher construction costs. Grzywinski+Pons designed the building and the interiors. The adaptation and interpretation of the prevalent typology in many high density european cities of a large inner courtyard in both single and multifamily residences was a fundamental component in our formal approach........more

Apartment Interior Design | Paris | France | CUT Architectures
" The apartment spreads over two floors, with a wider part on ground floor taking benefit of the natural light both from the street and the courtyard.
The project has been conceived to fit the intense social life of its owners, offering a wide living space combining a living room, a kitchen, a dining room and a showroom/study.
A curved clear glass volume engrafted with the street façade extends the transparency of the main space yet offering the possibility to be isolated thanks to integrated curtains following the curved glass. This space can therefore be used as well as a study or a guest room.

Apartment Interior Design | Espace St-Denis | Montreal | Canada | Anne Sophie Goneau Design
"The project is the design of a condo located on the ground floor of a 1887 triplex in the Plateau Mont-Royal.
The mandate was to divide each living area in order to maximize while maintaining the architectural integrity of the existing location, each room with natural light. The concept was to highlight the raw materials, discovered during the demolition, in order to communicate their material, their relief and color environment.
The open kitchen is the focal point of the space; it unfolds on the dining room and living room, where the master bedroom fits. It is bounded by a glass wall which preserves the view of the bare brick; an archaeological reminder wanting to highlight the existing raw materials as an exhibitor showcase. On the ground, a radiant hot water heating system was installed under a concrete slab, which was covered by a light gray epoxy and polyurethane matt finish.
The steel beam, flameproof, delimits the passage area. In the corridor leading to the bathroom, a light-emitting diode was installed in the recessed ceiling for a more intimate setting, which features the original hemlock wall " .......more

Apartment Interior Design | Meat Packing District Duplex | New York | Axis Mundi
Axis Mundi was in charge of a complete gut renovation of a one-bedroom duplex (675 sq. ft) in the Meat-Packing district. One of the outstanding features of the space is the dramatic arched window which fills the space with light.
The space was reconfigured, a new kitchen and powder room was designed, new zebrano plank flooring was installed on both levels. We designed a custom folded and cantilevered steel staircase which leads to the upper level. A sandblasted glass railing preserves privacy yet allows light to filter into the upper bedroom level. On the upper level the entire façade of the master bathroom is sandblasted glass.

Apartment Interior Design | Kwong Shook Lin Residence | Hong Kong | Affect-t
The Renovation of a flat in one of Hong Kong’s exclusive high-rise buildings, the space was opened up to create a contemporary open-plan living environment as per the client’s request. The prior configuration afforded little space in the bedrooms and fragmented space in the living area for gathering.
In order to unify the disparate rooms and integrate the flat a common design language was chosen. A fluid curving space was created which could negotiate and unify the disparate spaces and odd angles of the arrangement. The vaulted ceilings in the bedrooms provide a subtle surface for reflecting the light from the exterior and interior cove lighting while hiding numerous beams in the ceiling. The sculptural ceiling in the living rooms hides numerous LED lights while directing the eye the centre of the dining table in the open-plan room.
Textures and materials interplay as wood is used throughout with the parquet flooring and bespoke oak screen at the entry causing subtle shifts in view as one enters the flat. Marble is used in the two large bathrooms with large sinks carved out of solid block and large soaking tub and shower room in glass tile. A walk-in wardrobe is a point of rest next to the bathroom and a large kitchen can be hidden behind and pivoting door. All features combine to create a feeling of movement of being carried through the space, with the clients affinity for Feng Shui the ideas of direction and energy movement were integrated into the placement of furniture, fittings, and openings to create a contemporary space which envelops the resident.........more

Apartment Interior Design | Wall Street Studio | New York | Axis Mundi Design
Axis Mundi recently completed two residences for a brother and a sister at Downtown by Philippe Starck.
The sister's apartment is more subdued. The main design element was the creation of a glass room with sliding
panels which serves as her bedroom. Gold silk drapes line the interior.
Most of the furniture, built-ins and silk carpets were custom designed specifically for our clients. All of the
rooms serve multiple functions, as space was at a premium..........more
The brother owns an extensive collection of art work by the Japanese artist Takashi Murakami which was hung salon-style and is the main focus of the space. Other highlights include the 20' long red silk velvet covered banquette, lighting fixtures by Droog, gun lamps by Starck, and furniture by Moooi. Red is the predominant color theme throughout.

Apartment Interior Design | Art Collector's Home | New York | Caliper Studio
This project is the home for two art collectors on New York’s Upper West Side. Located in the top two floors of a Mckim Mead and White building, the design merges two apartments to create a spacious domestic art gallery where home and art are intertwined. The spaces are strung in an open sequence around a library core, from the entrance to the kitchen with a free standing stair and living spaces in between. Continuous long walls enclose the space to display works from the owners’ collection: Tomma Abts, Lawrence Weiner, Franz Ackermann and more. Full-height, translucent moveable partitions can be positioned to provide private enclosures when needed without reducing the overall scale of the space................more

Apartment Interior Design | The Painted Apartment | Chicago | Illinois | Krueck Sexton Architects
This Chicago apartment overlooks Lincoln Park and Lake Michigan. The client was no longer interested in living with paintings hanging on the walls but wanted to be surrounded by an integral work of art: to live within a painting.
Walls of backlit glass block, furniture, storage cabinets and perforated metal screens combine to define the plan. The floors, walls and ceiling are finished with a highly reflective paint that extends the space vertically. Accent colors on the floor dissolve into stenciled dots, horizontally extending the vertical geometry of screen partitions. Curving glass-block walls are illuminated from within and provide lighting. Functional separations are created by sliding panels and wardrobes, which are finished with highly polished metallic automobile paints........more
