Restaurant Interior Design | Tribeca | Shanghai | China | Linehouse Design

Located in Jing’an, Shanghai on a tree lined street, Tribeca is a New York style gastro pub. The interior has a lightness and a freshness, which is a departure from the surrounding dark and industrial bars and restaurants.

Linehouse wanted to create a strong distinction between the existing and the new; a white datum was inserted into the space which operates as a shelf for display at high level and wraps the bar with a perimeter of shadow less bulbs suspended below. This new insertion contrasts to the existing concrete shell, which was left in its raw state.

This white canopy is cut in moments above table leaners, to create framed moments to the ceiling above. Contained within this white envelope are mirror and bronze insertions, which create a sense of voyeurism and festivity with the mirror bulbs infinitely reflected upon their surfaces.......more

Office Interior Design | WeWork | Shanghai | China | Linehouse Design

WeWork Yanping Lu, is located in the Jing’An district of Shanghai. Nestled in what was once the British settlement, the area was occupied by a neighbourhood of longtangs. These houses and laneways are scattered throughout the area, and many now exist as remnants of their previous lives. These longtangs are sectionally cut, revealing the buildings’ structures, interiors and the way residents once occupied these laneway houses. Linehouse used this as their conceptual approach in developing the co-working space for WeWork.

Upon entering, a house framework envelops the reception, composed of white metal channels with the interior of the channel painted teal blue. Polycarbonate is layered upon the structure filtering the lighting; in moments this is peeled back to reveal the structure beyond. The reception desk is composed of salvaged TVs and radios; objects commonly seen in the laneways of Shanghai.

This play of sectionally cut structures continues in framing the pantry and seating nooks. Materials are layered, fixings exposed, revealing tectonically how the wall has been composed together........more

Retail Interior Design | Shanghai | Linehouse Design

"The new Factory 5 shop was a graduation from its previous smaller shop. Occupying a double height industrial warehouse space a mezzanine was inserted to accommodate private office space. The rest of the first floor retail and workshop space again focused on retaining a clubhouse feel with the creation of a bar and a communal table. Feature retail display walls was arranged to highlight Factory 5’s signature bicycle frames, Mission Workshop bags and clothing, and component displays of all the 45 parts that makes up a fixed gear bicycle. The design of the mezzanine and the bar used 150 by 150mm I-beams fixed horizontally between the existing metal columns to serve as counters for customers and staff. Retaining the feel of the old shop OSB and reclaimed wood from Shanghai’s demolition sites was again used for table tops and the cabinetry. The existing concrete floor was overlaid with a clear epoxy......more

Deli Interior Design | Shenzhen | China | Linehouse Design

" A volume six meters tall was inserted into the double height space. Its exterior is seemingly simple with a white painted finish and punched windows on all four sides. The windows allow glimpses of a three dimensional latticework of brass poles; its complexity only revealed when entering. The lattice work lines all four walls of the deli’s interior, filtering natural light and views. Forming a double-layer screen, it also serves to display and hold chalkboard signage and an array of cookware, equipment and merchandise.

Within the petite interior is a coffee counter, display for baked goods, fresh juices, deli items, and a table seating six. Outside, a raised teak wood deck provides seating at both a large central table and a banquet bench. Trees and tall grass planted along the perimeter provide shelter and respite for guests.....more
